My Writing Career

My writing career came as a SURPRISE!
...When my husband retired from pastoral ministry after 30 years ...my writing began.  It seems like I went backwards - because my books just flowed, the ideas, titles, designs...all came so easily but, then ---I didn't know what to do with them. I have a feeling some of you know exactly what I mean!

I remember presenting a style show at a ladies conference, where I met Germaine Copeland, the Keynote speaker for the conference. She is the author of Prayers That Avail Much.  As we talked, I shared with her my excitement and frustration about writing - I said, "I feel kinda silly saying I'm a writer"--and, this dear, gracious lady replied, "Well, let me ask you this--if, you were pregnant would you say you were having a baby"?  Laughingly, I said, "well, Yes"!  She said, "so you're pregnant with these books and, so you're a writer."

I have attended The Kentucky Women Writers' Retreats, hosted by KY Wesleyan College, the last three years. They invite college & university professors  from around the country to guest lecture all aspects of the craft of creative writing.
I also belong to a KY Wesleyan College Writers' Group.  It is a great opportunity to take ownership of your writing and, have other writers critique your work.

The Kentucky Christian Writers' Conference in Elizabethtown, Ky. is one of the best things that has happened for me as a writer. www.kychristianwriters.com  You will meet exciting editors, authors, publishers & writers just like yourself!!!  2007-2008, I served as Faculty Chair for the conference, and, I'm humbly honored & excited to be emceeing our 2009 conference.

I will be attending the Southern Kentucky Book Fest in Bowling Green, KY this very week-end.  Over l50 authors will be there - including the creator of the children's character "ELMO"

My very first book is currently being published and will be available for the KCWC conference.  It is called CAMEOS and, it is a giftbook of poetry for pastors' wives.  I am so excited about this book -which really any wife can relate to - but, I have
specifically dedicated it to this unsung heroine in humanity.

I ENJOY hearing from other writers.
